The first step in your nursing career is earning your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.). The Wayne State University College of Nursing has a long record of successfully preparing students to begin practicing upon graduation. Graduates average a 96.7-percent first-time passing rate of the state licensure exam (NCLEX-R.N), which is 11-percent higher than the national average and 10-percent higher than the Michigan average.
TRADITIONAL: College students who are entering nursing for the first time can begin traditional nursing studies upon completion of the pre-nursing course requirements. A minimum 2.5 honor point average in prerequisite courses is required for admission consideration. This program is 3 years long.
SECOND CAREER/SECOND DEGREE: The Second Career/Second Degree program is designed for individuals who have completed their undergraduate studies in another field but wish to pursue a career in nursing. This accelerated program allows students to complete their nursing studies in 16 months.
