Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing

The Ph.D. program is designed to prepare researchers and scholars who will provide leadership to the profession and discipline of nursing. The program emphasizes the development of the student’s capacity to make significant original contributions to nursing knowledge. The curriculum focuses on scientific inquiry and consists of a series of nursing seminars that address nursing theory and the substantive domains of the discipline. Students select a minor area of study from the rich diversity of resources within the university. Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to provide leadership as nurse researchers, educators or administrators in current and emerging academic and health-care settings.
